For those of you who aren't already aware, Blitz Sonic doesn't run properly on the latest version of Blitz3D, version 1.108. The reason for this is because after 1.106 there were performance issues when running it under Windows 8/8.1/10, so apparently they dicked around with the Flip command in the source code to fix the issues, which broke just about every library before that version, including the FastExtension libraries which are necessary for drawing the hud. So now what? We can either stick with Blitz3D v1.106, or move on to a different app. There are a few apps (albeit old) which use the Blitz command set, which would make porting the engine easy plus you wouldn't have to learn a new language. Unfortunately most of the links I found are broken! So at this point I'm wondering if anyone else has found a new SDK or library that either gets around, or fixes the v1.108 problem? There are libraries that supposedly give DirectX 9, 10, and 11 support, but I cannot seem to find them... Is Blitz Sonic doomed to v1.106 and nothing else? Any suggestions are welcome!
