Hello everyone, Scidust, me, and a few others are in the alpha stage of the last Linksonic5 Blitz Engine engine 3 (Alpha stage name is Project Salute, looking for better name later on down the road). New features include larger view distance (upcoming), enhanced lighting and shadows (upcoming), better menu (better stage selecting, music, news), VOIP (upcoming), and better multiplayer co-op mode (gamemodes such as racing, king of the hill, co-op, and batte). We don't have a release date in mind, but should be done somewhere around the end of this year or spring 2017.
QNA: Will there be other characters? Maybe in the future, we just have sonic, tails, and knuckles right now, but we are more focused on other things right now, (such as battle damage (10% 50% etc) What about this new menu. (this is a later implementation, for when everything else works alright). But you will be able to change the main menu music, read recent News, and more coming! What about battle gamemode? I know I built up a lot of hype for that (sorry), but tbh, we cant really say anything about it until we know for sure that its done. We are going at this 1 step at a time. How can I help? We really don't need anyone at this time, (this may change) but stay tuned!

Quick edit: I know this is all of a sudden, what with Sci being back into Blitz and all of this stuff without previous information, but we have been doing so much so fast, we didn't really have time for announcements, but now we feel safe to go ahead and start.

My advice is to not stray away from LS5E2's play style. Just really fix it's issues, add rolling, and a few things here and there. Don't go crazy with freatures or we'll have an Oz-quality release instead. Also, keep in mind you can actually port a lot of code from Blitz to Unity, so if at one point you want to switch engines, all the work didn't go into the garbage. Good luck! And glad to see Sci making stuff again.

I'd tried to hop on this idea long ago, but the sourcecode I was supplied never compiled w/o errors.
Either way, congratulations, as I look forward to this completion.
Also, about that "better multiplayer," at least add support for two DIFFERENT characters, please~? I've been too stuck up on sourcecode fixes to get to that, but all at the same time, I'd love to work with you guys.
EDIT: Also, glad to finally see Arrow's other Sonic model being used!
