I'd say they are probably safe. No one has ever reported anything bad coming out of these engines and into the computer. We still can't know for sure since we don't have the source code but I highly, highly doubt these games are virus infected considering that many other virus programs don't say a thing about BGE. That, and false alarms are common with these programs. Avast thought once that the DLLS for Maya were viruses so without my notification deleted a bunch of crucial files and I had to reinstall the whole thing. Avast likes to do that a lot apparently.

It is possible that the executable was packaged with some dll files that triggered the antivirus detection.

I got AVG AntiVirus FREE 2014. I did a full scan and it said three engines had Trojans. They were Sonic BGE Anniversary (Demo 1), Sonic Blast Adventure Demo 3, and BlitzSonic Heroes Demo 1. Then I tried giving them to Virus Total. www.virustotal.com/en/file/72c45f19034d054126ec3b162476bcd2b838152db26529fa2bcb790f7bb1729a/analysis/1406898430/That's what 40+ anti-virus programs think of the Sonic Blast Adventure Demo 3 installer. Check out the behavior tab (the file was an installer, so Setup.exe and such going all over the place is a little reasonable). Sonic BGE Anniversary won't fit in Virus Total, not even the .exe alone (it exceeds the max file upload size of 64 MB). This is the engine I'm definitely worried about; it was one of my favorites because it was like a BSU DEMO 4. Same thing with BlitzSonic Heroes Demo 1; it's too big for Virus Total. A .txt in the .rar of BSH Demo 1 from OzCrash (most likely) claims that the user's antivirus sucks repeatedly and says the Trojan is a false positive because he compressed many folders into an .exe. He did the same thing with BGE; I remember there being so little folders outside the .exe. Do you guys have any input? Do any of you know for sure there is or isn't a virus in these engines? Is OzCrash trustworthy? They're safe don't worry, bge had a lot of cases like this too, yah it's something in the executable or dll's. I never got anything however from Kaspersky.

Yeah, I think from all the info I've found out pertaining to BGE/BSH and viruses, I think they're safe. What about 3DSawnikku's Sonic Blast Adventure Demo 3? I've heard absolutely nothing from the community about that one being Trojan. Also safe, I've downloaded from websites that have given me adware/malware and I never got a single virus. It's honestly your antivirus incorrectly detecting viruses, because I scan all my downloads (well quick scan) and unless I see it says virus detected or it can't fully scan then I take more caution or delete it. Also some of the download websites will put stuff on your computer, it just depends on your judgement.

i had a false positive from AVG saying Sonic BGE was a virus... now it broke the game .-. Don't use AVG, because it broke my sound and did some other things that required me to reset my OS to an earlier time. Avira will not give you the same issues.

I use Avast. It's free too. But if you still want to keep the same antivirus, just google how to make it not scan the BGE folder.

I don't know how to not make it scan the folder. Cause it showed a false positive, then I put it to stay on the pc. now I can't access the exe file. The only solution for me is to temporarily disable the protection.
