Here is one stage I created yesterday, took me about an hour and 20 minutes to make, but I had to scale it up by 250 times its original size Attachments:

In sketchup, I create a circle, then use the offset tool to create a smaller circle inside that circle, then I use the line tool to draw a line and create a quarter section, then I erase the other sections of the circle until I have just the quarter section left, then I use the pull me tool to extrude the section, then use the selection to select the top and bottom of the extruded quarter to stretch it into a helix type shape, then I copy that exact part then rotate it to make an extra part to attach to that part, I do this until I have 4 sections to complete the loop

Also I tried this, but I got lost at the stretch it into a helix shape part. I then tried making the half circle with the angle tool then used the pull tool, and finally the move pull to put it into shape, and all I got was a hard to move shape, mind making a video (you can use a free recorder called bandicam for that if you don't want to spend any mone) or a picture tutorial, possibly even make a thread in the help section.
