I think he has a good point, really. I'm still working on BlitzSonic Heroes with Ozan, and it's made me realise how much I hate fragMOTION. You can't be anymore right. The rotation is terrible on the prespective view, weight rigging high poly models is a pain, and you get a crappy result and more time wasted than any other program. Don't even get me started on the weight painting tool. Anyway, Unity! I made an old 3rd person sonic engine when I was only like, 12 on it. It's pretty simple, works on low end machines, and best of all, no Fragmotion. Finally you can rig in one program... AND NEVER SEE FRAGMOTION AGAIN UDK is more complicated and doesn't allow as much freedom with a standard licence. BTW, Unity 3D has a great community and a great source of tutorials. There is even an official documentation teaching you biped movement physics and in game movement of IK's based on geometry that are very useful for sonic engines or any engine at all. Unity 3D is great. I don't know why I left it alone for so long.

as you all said, Unity is a great choice. but, Unfortuantly except that locomotion system, there's no player controller that makes you able to make sonic run on slopes > 180°. and It's not that easy to code a controller by yourself only if your very good at coding in c# and Js. I can code in unity, make some nice things like Enemies ( moving arround and shooting ...) and I can make some moving scripts but I was never able to get the slopes to wrok. I even tried the locomotion system but that didn't go well. The way the controller is done, does not fit sonic games very well. So if someone knows how to fix that problem, I'll be glad to re-make blitz sonic into unity ^^

Actually, there is also a racing game engine, but sonic isn't exactly a car I want to try Unity again too and see how far I get at slope physics. But I can only code well in 2D. Well, time to brush off my old coding knowledge and learn some new coding Hopefully I've learned something over the years.

nah i don't like unity the games you make are always feeling broken, and the graphics are just different and you always have errors so i just prefer UDK cause there's a sonic engine out there i can edit, kinda like sonic blitz but more smoother

^Surely the fact that the game feels broken is the programmer's fault? I've seen some amazing games made in Unity, if your game is broken it is purely your own faut.

I think we should collaborate and get a working Sonic engine in Unity. Anyone?

Maybe an original game? Steam are doing this new thing called 'Greenlight' and you can submit your own games, then they get voted to be put on Steam... For money xD
Yeah, sharing it would be stupid, but either way something original would be better. We can't go through life constantly doing Sonic stuff, versatility my friends. All stuff that'll help us in the future. Shows we have good talents and imaginations.
We have modellers, animators, coders. We could do it if we tried. Only issue is time and communication, if you ask me.

@blitzplum - I fully agree. Something that isn't Sonic and is 100% original. It gets tiring opening up Maya everyday only to see Sonic's face. Also, ever heard of Microsoft XNA? It is used to make indie games for XBLA.
