Why sonic is truly the greatest hero.

I at first didn't understand why people say sonic sucks and all that carp until I realized that all other video game characters (except for solid snake) are powerful due to magic, power-ups, weapons and items. Sonic on the other hand is powerful due to natural moves he's learned and in the exception of sonic and the secrete rings, sonic and the black knight and sonic colors, he's basically save the world so many times and only one level he would become supersonic throughout the game. Also I would really would love to know if there is a hero out there besides sonic who's beaten an enemy or villain besides Dr. Eggman with an IQ of 300 or more with only his or her own natural abilities or moves.

I don't get. In the first sentence, you said that you didn't understand why people say that Sonic sucks until you realized that other people used power-ups? So, people using power-ups makes Sonic suck?...according to your first sentence.
