OK, What I would do is boot your computer into safe mode, you keep on hitting the F8 (or some other "F Key") after you hit your power button and you should see the option "boot into safe mode" select that, then once your computer is booted, go to system restore, then select a restore point before you messed up your computer. If this does't work, or something goes wrong with the process, then PM me here, and I can try to help you more. alright, so I went into safe mode, the good thing is I was able to launch safe mode, the bad thing is, it had no restore points I could choose... so I don't know what else to do...

If you havent solved it yet, a) Get Norton antivirus. Its good. REALLY good. It costs money, (DONT go pirating that this time, you hear?) But its all worth it. b) Just dont return to the website you got the virus. Simple.
P.S. Guys, dont get angry at him for piracy. Its wrong, but ALL of you would have AT LEAST pirated ONE song.

I had this one time too, however it might be a different one, as the one I had still made me able to launch Internet Explorer to pay for their "virus scanner". Renamed some anti virus program (Malwarebytes Anti Malware I believe) to iexplore.exe in c:/program files/internet explorer/iexplore.exe, which made me launching it, and deleting the virus. However as viruses aren't the same, it might not work for you. Also, about avoiding virus stuff: 1) Dun download 2) Get a decent virus scanner (I used to use AVG, but the amount of false-positives was annoying and thus switched to microsoft security essentials. Also have malware bytes anti malware) 3) If you're launching programs which you don't trust (Stuff like keygens etc.), launch it in a sandbox. I use Sandboxie. A sandbox works like this: The program will think it writes stuff to a certain folder in your HDD, but instead it writes it to a folder inside the sandbox. So it won't touch Windows.

I'm not even sure if that is the problem... but its okay really, I'll just wipe and reload on windows 7

Hello there guys, over the few hours I've been trying to fight this virus called, XP Security 2012, which is a scam that produces fake popups and fake scan results, which evidently it is just a scam to steal your money. It started when I had downloaded a torrent of "The Binding of Isaac" when I got the popup, I immediately knew this was fake so I terminated the process with task manager and started up a full pc scan on AVG... in mean while of doing so, everytime I tried to open a .exe which was Steam, it popped up a message saying "Choose the program you want to use to open this file:" at that moment I let the scan finish and restarted my pc, when it was done restarting... it did not launch ANY of my Executables.. nor Steam, Skype, AVG, ZoneAlarm, Hamachi, launched... I'm considering wiping and reloading my pc to get rid of it... the only problem is... I don't have a disc to reinstall xp on... if there is a situation to AVOID this at all costs, please do so in telling me on this thread! 1. Torrents are BAD. Piracy is BAD. Don't use torrents. You will go to jail and get viruses. You got what you deserved for torrents. And if you want a song,go to Youtube! 2. How did you send a message without a working computer? 3. If you want a working computer again, follow this guide.

If you want a working computer again, follow this guide. the computer works, but is extremely buggy, I however can make a workaround of it until I get windows 7 soon, and I know piracy is bad jesus fucking christ. plus that guide won't work, for all I can do to solve this is wipe and reload
