He was referring to the engine (Sonic GDK by Xalse) which isn't your work. He said Xalse's work was good.. Sorry if it sounded like I was insulting you, I just have a pet peeve on people using mass amounts of presets. I've seen Blitz stages with more detail than that. Just because you have a better tool on your hands doesn't mean it's automatically good. Plus, the GDK engine, in reality was being made since 2007 ( Under a code name of Ashura Dark Reign *cough, a basically dead fan game*) but was severely redone to be what it is today. A game engine. To me this is just as significant as someone doing a re texture of a stage. Not much detail, nothing new. Only reason people say it's good is because they never used GDK, haven't seen what it's capable of, or have low standards. Honestly, I'm just trying to tell you it needs more work. French fries need salt. What I'm seeing is a badly made terrain, like, 10 trees, no BG at all (Where are the cliffs, waterfall, ocean, loops, and details in the background?) And adding more presets won't fix this. Also, the terrain needs much more work. He needs to be running on a flat surface not hills. Hills are background material and occasionally used to run on. Look at how Sonic Generations Green hill was done. I'm trying to tell you what you need to work on. That is all. And before you say I just like saying other's work is bad, I can name tons of people who I can say their work is good. It's just that I have high standards though. But, to be fair, I've never really seen someone at 13 use GDK and it is still clearly WIP. I'm just basing it as if it were the final version. I can also understand you don't have much time on the computer so it's not like I expected more.
End Verdict: The stage, compared to Blitz Sonic standards is an amazing and promising start. Compared to GDK standards, meh. But than again, your using UDK, an engine used to make REAL games. People take college courses for this and still need training. So lets go by Blitz standards for now this being OurBlitzSonicGame. There are still two different takes on this though. I'm trying to get this to be better than a good blitz sonic stage. Make it something UNREAL. Maybe I'll come and help you out when I have free time but this Summer, I'm packed with stuff to do that isn't computer related.
No hard feelings :P
